*** COVID-19 UPDATE – 8th August 2020 ***

For our Club members and all potential new runners!

Following updated and UK Government advice we are pleased to announce that we are able to now re-start club training sessions and group runs if they are conducted within a Covid safe environment. It is essential that you visit the Covid 19 page linked above to read and digest the information and the pre activity questionnaire. You must run through this questionnaire before attending any club sessions.

Note also that some of our session meet up times and procedures have changed, they are also listed on the training pages.
If you are planning on running with us for the first time, first of all a warm welcome! it is particularly important now that you contact us prior to coming along so that we have your details.

Monday 10th is our first planned session, an easy social run.

Chris (2:25) and Paul (2:24) after their amazing marathon performances at Bedford this October!

West 4 Harriers is a small and very friendly running club based in Chiswick. There is a wide range of abilities, from beginners to seasoned ultra/marathoner runners. Ages range from anything from 18 to 60 plus.

Club nights are 7pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We meet at Chiswick Cricket Club on Riverside Drive W4 2SP. The clubhouse is close to the river and Dukes Meadows, perfect for evening drinks in the summer after a run. Monday night is an easy, social run of between 4-6 miles, ideal for prospective members to meet us all. Tuesday and Thursday are hill and speed sessions (see training for more details). All of our running is done in the local area, either on the towpath between Hammersmith and Kew, or Richmond Park in the summer and then on the roads in the winter.

West 4 Harriers participate regularly at races of all distances all over the country, Europe and the rest of the world. There is no pressure to race but almost all new members end up catching the bug and there is nothing more encouraging than crossing the finish line with all your club mates cheering you on. Unless of course you cross it before they do!

Each month there is a hotly contested club handicap race – 3 miles in the summer and 4 in the winter. In the winter we take part in the Surrey League men’s and women’s cross country league. An opportunity to do some off road running and get muddy whilst scoring points for the club.

Our annual club race is the Fuller’s Thames Towpath Ten, a popular 10 miler down the towpath. West 4 have organised this successfully for over 20 years and all our members are requested to marshal and help make the day special.

Prospective members are urged to come and try a few runs with us before committing to joining. If you do join, the annual fee is a mere £25. If you wish to race as a “West 4 Harrier” and be part of an affiliated club, the annual fee becomes £40. This additional £15 fee goes to England Athletics, who will issue you with your own EA number entitling you to a discount on race entry and at some running stores.

£25 buys 1-2 weeks of gym membership. With a club like ours it’s 52 weeks! Including over 200 running and training opportunities! Not a difficult choice.
